is a cheap version of a cognac and a essential part of many old (and perhaps forgotten) Swedish long drinks. It’s been part of Systembolagets
range of products since 1922. The company that makes it is now days Pernod Ricard
but the beautiful, squiggly label, designed sometime in the 1950s, remains more or less unchanged. A true Swedish classic worth a post!
is a London based chain of Barbers and Gentleman’s stores with a classic modern identity that Atwork
developed in close cooperation with Murdock owner and founder Brendan Murdock. I’m especially fond of the illustrations and color details on the different bottles and packaging. Examples of that can be found after the jump!
I’m not really a fan of Italian espresso, but I do like well thought-out and designed packaging. And Compagnia dell’Arabica from Caffè Corsini
falls in that category. It’s the stamp-like labels that makes the coffee stand out. Sure it’s not a totally unique idea but the stamps makes it very clear where the coffee beans comes from and well, they do look nice. Closeups of the labels can be found after the jump.
FibreForm is a new interesting biodegradable and recyclable paper from Swedish Billerud
. What makes FiberForm exiting, besides the eco-aspect of it, is its flexibility that makes it perfect for creating new and innovative packaging. I would love to work on a project that would allow me to work with FiberForm!
I like simple and explanatory business names and can it get any more self explanatory than Vancouver based sandwich shop Meat & Bread
? In addition to the great name they are sporting a stylistically pure identity created by Glasfurd & Walker
. The black and white identity is built around strong typography and angular, sharp animal icons. A perfect identity for Meat & Bread if you ask me.
Dutch designer Elroy Klee
have designed some serious cool packaging for Mount Tea. The pyramid shaped boxes is not only a flirt with the teabags shape but also a play on the brand name. Anyway you look at it, they look great and they can be bought at Mount Tea’s shop in Steinfurt
A month before Christmas and I’m already planning what to put on my julbord
. Pickled herring is must but the question is to make it myself or go for Garant’s
new wonderful packaged line of herrings. The packaging was designed by Bas Brand Identity
and don’t you just love herrings in small colorful shirts?!
is a sparkling wine made from birch sap. The sap comes from birch trees that grow on the beaches of Storsjön
, in the mineral rich Jämtlandish
soil. The wine is made from a recipe from 1785 and the 2007 version of Sav™ can now be ordered
at Systembolaget. Stockholm Design Lab
designed the beautiful bottles.
A good animation is a good animation, it doesn’t have to be super advanced or 3D to get my attention. German animator Andreas Hykade’s
Love & Theft is a perfect example of that. Love & Theft has just the right mix of craziness, simplicity and playfulness. Enjoy the full 6:50 min after the jump!
