Regular readers of the blog will know that I like recycled materials. Especially if they are rough, untreated and turned into something new and a bit unexpected. Much like the candle holder Pipe by Malmö based
Studio Tundra. The candle holders are hand-made in the UK out of vintage iron plumbing pipes and if you’re interested in buying one, you can do so
here.

Garant is one of
Axfood’s (
Willys and
Hemköp)
private brands. They have over the past year undergone a redesign and line extension. One of the new line of products is
Garant Såklart, a series of eco friendly detergents, soaps and body lotions. Garant Såklarts packaging is designed by
Bas Brand Identity who has created a lovely font heavy design that stands out and doesn’t look like a classic, boring eco brand.

Friggs is mostly know for their health oriented products and herbal teas. They are now breaking their tradition of fruity teas (no pun intended) and releasing a line of black teas tastefully packaged by the design agency
Public Speaking. The design is based round clean typography and simple symbols indicating the teas different flavors. The overall look has a retro feel and I like it.

Van Hulsteijn might be one of the stranger bikes you’ll find on this blog. It has a uncompleted,
velocipede look that scares me at the same time as it thrills me. I’m not sure if I would dare to ride it if I got the change, but it sure looks exciting, fast and cool. Lots of pics of the bike after the jump of course.

PowerTrekk is a charger (external power source) for cellphones and other gadgets that are powered via USB. The charger gets it’s boost from
fuel cells and you can more or less recharge your gear with just the help of some water. Perfect for that sailing cruise, trek or why not for a family in a third world country?!

Frauscher has been building high quality boats and yachts since 1927 and the 650 Alassio is no exception. The elegant 650 Alassio is what Frauscher calls a elektroyacht and is as you might understand powered by an electric motor. But style and eco friendliness comes with a price when it looks as posh as this, 46 620 € to be more precise.

FibreForm is a new interesting biodegradable and recyclable paper from Swedish
Billerud. What makes FiberForm exiting, besides the eco-aspect of it, is its flexibility that makes it perfect for creating new and innovative packaging. I would love to work on a project that would allow me to work with FiberForm!

Freeways are traditionally not very eco friendly and tend to produce nothing more than carbon dioxide. The city of Los Angeles got around 800 km of freeways and Swedish architect
Måns Tham has come up with an idea to turn the freeways into green, energy producing networks than run throughout out the city by covering the roads with solar panels. If that isn’t enough Måns Tham suggests that algae ponds should be placed along the roads. Algae that cleans the car exhausts from carbon dioxide. The algae can then be harvested and turned into
bio fuel. Information on how much energy the freeways could be able to produced can be found after the jump or at Måns Tham
website.
