Bridge School

Bridge School

In the small village of Xiashi in the Chinese province of Fujian you find a very interesting building project. The tantalizing building is a bridge but at the same time a school and social center for the village. The main concept of the building is to enliven an old village community and to sustain a traditional culture. Something I imagine is getting harder and harder in a ever faster growing Chinese economy/society. It’s a stunning building designed by Li Xiaodong Atelier.

Meat & Bread

Meat & Bread

I like simple and explanatory business names and can it get any more self explanatory than Vancouver based sandwich shop Meat & Bread? In addition to the great name they are sporting a stylistically pure identity created by Glasfurd & Walker. The black and white identity is built around strong typography and angular, sharp animal icons. A perfect identity for Meat & Bread if you ask me.

House in Athens

House in Athens

I don’t write about unfinished houses that often but sometimes a 3D rendering is interesting enough for me to write about it. The three story villa in this post is under development by Greek mplusm and it will be completed by 2012 in Athens. The villa is well protected behind a long wall and from the looks of things, all socializing will conducted on the ground floor since the kitchen, dining room and living room is situated there. And flanked by a great pool! Let’s hope mplusm’s vision shines through when the building is completed.

Love & Theft

Love & Theft

A good animation is a good animation, it doesn’t have to be super advanced or 3D to get my attention. German animator Andreas Hykade’s Love & Theft is a perfect example of that. Love & Theft has just the right mix of craziness, simplicity and playfulness. Enjoy the full 6:50 min after the jump!
