Snæfellsstofa Visitor Center

Snæfellsstofa Visitor Center

In the eastern part of national park that surrounds Europe’s largest glacier Vatnajökull you find the visitor center Snæfellsstofa. The building is x shaped and was designed by Arkís. The materials are (as usual when I like something) concrete and beautiful untreated wood. I wouldn’t mind spending a day at enjoying the building, the barren environment or the glacier at Vatnajökull. For when you think about it there is few things that’s as impressive as a 8100 km² large glacier that covers eight percent of Iceland.

Glacier Creme

Glacier Creme

Right now summer feels very far away but I guess some of you on the northern hemisphere are planning winter vacations. And for you who are planning to go to a warm and nice place remember to use sunscreen when you hit the beach. Why not try Glacier Creme Naked Protection 30+ SPF? Naked Protection is a mineral sunscreen with naturally derived zinc oxide as its only active ingredient. The formula is fortified with tea and sunflower extracts with added plankton, vitamin E and shea butter, a combination of powerful antioxidants that help protect against ongoing sun damage. If that doesn’t make you want to give it a try, why not buy it because of it’s wonderful packaging designed by Red Tettemer?

The Pierre

The Pierre

The Pierre is one of the most beautiful houses I’ve seen in a long time and its view over the San Juan Archipelago is incredible! The house celebrates the materiality of the site and that combined with a green roof makes the house blend with the surrounding, making it almost invisible from certain angles. I’m having a hard time finding anything wrong with the exterior or the interior for that matter. The interiors combination of older looking, inviting furniture stands in wonderful contrast with the raw concrete walls. Well what can you say, Olson Kundig Architects has done a wonderful job! Enjoy lots more photos after the jump.

OBK by CW&T

OBK by CW&T

Christmas is closing in and I thought it was time for a the seasons first gift suggestion, a gift to someone that has everything but still needs something cool. The beautiful jewelry in question goes under the name OBK (One Brass Knuckle) and was designed by CW&T. OBK can be worn as a necklace or a ring. If you wear it as a ring you’ll notice that it closely resembles brass knuckles (you know like the once everyone had in the 1980s). After the jump you’ll find a small video demonstrating how you can use your OBK.

Scent stories from Ah&Oh

Scent stories from Ah&Oh

Portland based Ah&Oh Studio likes packaging design just as I do. And to challenge themselves they have designed a series of amazing perfumes bottles. The fictitious fragrances gets their name and inspiration from some of histories most famous male authors and you can clearly see the literary heritage in the inkwell inspired bottles. Amazing exercise in packaging if you ask me!

Wanderlust Hotel

Wanderlust Hotel

Wanderlust is a eclectic boutique hotel in the vicinity of Singapore’s Little India. The building was built in the 1920s to house a school but have now undergone a transformation into a trendy hotel. The reception and restaurant have been designed by Asylum. The concept is “industrial glam” and I guess that is a good title for the interior. If you’re curious how the rest of the hotel looks I recommend this link.

Casa em Lousado

Casa em Lousado

Yesterday I wrote about a house I wasn’t sure if I liked or not. There is no doubt concerning the villa in today’s post, Casa em Lousado is beautiful! The thrilling house was designed by Correia/Ragazzi Arquitectos and I really feel that they have created some interesting and unique. What attracts me the most is the stone wall and how it flows from the outside and throughout the house, effectively tying the outside with the inside. And there isn’t anything wrong with the view either, or how the huge wedges (the roof) hide private terraces. A bunch of photos and plans can be found after the jump.

Bend CUBO

Bend CUBO

I’m not sure if it’s the shape of Bend CUBO that makes me like or just the stunning location that it’s built on. The buildings sharp lines are almost at war with the surrounding and inviting peach orchards but if you look beyond the lush trees you see the hard silhouettes of the mountains and the angles of the house start making sense. Well, ugly or not, Bend CUBO by CUBO Design is interesting and it speaks to me.

Dix Neuf 20

Dix Neuf 20

Han Kjøbenhavn is to me mainly a company that makes cool glasses but they also dabble in fashion and accessories. For the coming spring they are releasing a line of shirts under the name Dix Neuf 20. All shirts in the collection have undergone an extensive wash process to give them the perfect vintage look and the motif gets its inspiration from classic French posters. Dix Neuf 20 will only be sold in select shops around the world so keep your fingers crossed that you live close to one of them.
